An art and a chore

Image
Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life. That's how the phrase goes if I'm right. Upon further pondering about this concept, I was left wondering how true this actually is. I don't have the statistics to prove whether this hypothesis holds any water, however, from my encounters with the work environment and employees it's never that rosy all the time.  What exactly is it that one loves doing exactly? I'd like to believe that there's something we all are passionate about something that captures our hearts and we seem to lose track of time once we get to do it. You may not know exactly what it is, I believe intuitively it will be along the lines of a media of expression. It could manifest itself through cooking, collection or crafting or whatever form of mental and physical effort one my pour out in order to extend a part of themselves into our plane of reality.  Once you discover what that is, it invites you into a new realm...

Money answers all

Image
Money, a commodity accepted by general consent as a medium of economic exchange. That's what you'll get as the definition of money according to the Mariam Webster dictionary. If you ask me what money is I'd probably tell you that it's a commodity I scarcely have. It's almost insane how much faith is put into currency for the whole exchange of money for goods and services to happen. One day some people decided that trading cows for apples wasn't so convenient any more and now it's resulted in having to work 45 hours a week , so that there's an increment to your bank account. As an unemployed youth there never seems to be enough money to go around , especially considering the fact that I don't live with my parents. I've reached a stage in my life where a lot of my peers are all looking to be emancipated, most of my friends are looking for the means to become independent. We are all in that phase of trying to transition out of our ne...

Quirkiness what's your super power

Everyone is different and that's what makes us all the same. We tend to identify ourselves because of our uniqueness, the first time you talk to someone new, you ask them where they are from, what their occupation and if the inquiry continues you get to know their hobbies and other interests. Mentally there are categories and boxes people are placed into. I can tell you that the relationship with Obadiah the painter and the one with Priscilla the statistician are going to be visibly different. After finding out which fields of interest the way one starts to characterise a person starts to have biases. In the science fiction department of media there's a lot of content to do with superpowers or some sort of inhuman ability. Usually the ability is tied to some sort of traits of the user at times or an event that happened in their life. For my first time watching this kind of content as a child I was left feeling a little envious, you know the ever so common scenari...

Ode to the mothers

Image
This one goes out to that special lady in our lives. She's the first person we have a relationship with, the one whose cooking we always enjoy, ultimately she's the superwoman in all our lives, in whichever language we each use to call her it all translates to the word mother.  By the time you're reading this it should be Mothers' day in most parts of the world. Which means it's that Sunday where one gets to shower their mom with affection in whatever form it may take. It could look like a hand crafted Mothers'day card or breakfast in bed or a bouquet of her favourite flowers. This day is a pretty big deal and it leads one to wonder why it is so.  To answer this I look at my own life and my own mother. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have her around and after taking into account everything that she is to me. I have a very fond relationship with my mother which some may coin as being a momma's boy, the implications of that te...

When was the last time you did something for the first time? How did that make you feel? It's exciting when it's an activity you've been looking forward to, and daunting when it's a chore you have to get through, but you've been putting it off for a while.  Here I find myself blogging for the first time. How do I feel? I know anxious isn't the word. I guess because I know at this point I don't have that large of an audience, it's probably going to be my small circle of friends or whoever. If this garners more attention than that, then perhaps I will come back to criticize this post. It's almost comica,l how we are our own worst critics, especially when we don't perform as well we would like, when we do something for the first time. A majority of the time it's because we set unreal expectations for our first experiences.  Whenever I try a recipe for the first time, and it does not look anything like the tutorial I was following, I...
